Learn Ableton Production in 2 Days

There's a difference between having Ableton and knowing Ableton.

I see it all the time: People buy Ableton, open it, look at the Session View, feel completely overwhelmed and end up at YouTube tutorial #47 about "How to make a Fat Kick".

Three months later they have 500 tabs open, 12 unfinished projects and still no completed track.

The problem isn't talent. The problem is: Nobody shows you the workflow from start to finish.

That's exactly why I'm doing this workshop.

Why this workshop is different

Together with Milan (hardware specialist and Move/Push 3 power user), I'll teach you in 2 intensive days how to go from first idea to finished track.

Two producers. Two philosophies.

Day 1: Hardware First - Creativity without a screen (Milan Lead)

We don't start at the computer. We start with Ableton Move and Push 3.

Why? Because hardware gets you out of "perfection paralysis". You jam, you experiment, you make instead of overthinking.

What you'll learn:

  • Move & Push 3 fundamentals (navigation, workflow, patterns)
  • Building beats, melodies & basslines directly on hardware
  • Sound design & sequencing without a DAW
  • Develop your first 8-bar idea (which we'll expand into a track on day 2)

By the end of day 1, you'll have a solid musical idea - and you'll understand why hardware workflows unleash your creativity.

Day 2: Ableton Live Deep Dive - From loop to track (Florian Lead)

Now we take your idea from day 1 and turn it into a finished track.

We import your hardware loops into Ableton Live and I'll show you step-by-step how to:

Understand Session View vs. Arrangement View

  • Session View = your playground (live looping, experimentation)
  • Arrangement View = your timeline (structure, final track)

Build sounds from scratch

  • Operator deep dive (FM synthesis basics)
  • Organize drum racks & build custom kits
  • External MIDI sequencing for more control

Mix your track

  • EQ fundamentals (frequency carving, creating space)
  • Compression (dynamic control, punch, glue)
  • Saturation (overtones & character)
  • Utility (mono/stereo width management)
  • Using return channels properly

Finish & export your track

  • Simple mastering chain (limiter, final EQ, glue)
  • Understanding export settings (WAV vs. MP3, sample rates, bit depth)
  • Bouncing your first finished track

By the end of day 2, you'll go home with a finished track.

What makes this workshop unique?

1. Two producers, two perspectives

Milan brings the hardware-first approach: intuitive, hands-on, flow-oriented.

I bring software depth: sound design, mixing, technical precision.

You don't just get "one method". You get two different workflows - and find out what works for you.

2. Directly at Ableton HQ Berlin

We're not doing this workshop in some rented room. We're doing it directly at Ableton in Berlin-Prenzlauer Berg.

You'll work with the latest hardware (Move & Push 3)

3. Maximum attention

Max. 15 participants.

This isn't a 50-person webinar where you're just a number. Milan and I will walk around, look over your shoulder, give you direct feedback on your sounds, your idea, your track.

You get the attention you need.

4. You leave with a finished track

At the end of day 2, you bounce your track. You have a finished audio file. You can show it to your friends, upload it to SoundCloud, play it in your set.

That's your first producer moment.

Who is this workshop for?

  • Absolute beginners: You've never opened Ableton? Perfect. We start from zero.
  • Tutorial hoppers: You've watched 1000 YouTube videos but never finished a track? This is exactly right for you.
  • Hardware curious: You want to test Move or Push 3 before buying? You get 8 hours of hands-on time.
  • Stuck producers: You never get beyond 16-bar loops? We'll show you how to finish tracks.
  • Not suitable for advanced producers: If you already have 20+ finished tracks and can do arrangement/mixing in your sleep, this workshop is too basic for you.

FAQs

Do I need to own Ableton already? No. The trial version is enough. We work mainly on hardware on day 1.

Do I need musical background? No. We start from zero. If you know what a beat is, that's enough.

Can I test Move/Push 3? Yes! Day 1 is completely hardware-focused. You get 8 hours of hands-on time.

What if I can't keep up? Milan and I walk around and help individually. Max. 15 participants = enough time for everyone.

Can I bring my own controller? Sure, but not necessary. We have Move & Push 3 on site.

How much Ableton experience do the trainers have? Milan is a hardware specialist with years of Push/Move experience. I (Florian) have been producing techno for 15+ years, have a YouTube channel with 23k+ subs about Ableton production, and have been teaching for years.
