Dununba is out. The second track on it is Kenkeni, and you can watch me make it.
No tutorial this time. Just me in Ableton, building a track from the first sound to the last, uncut. Almost two hours.
What Was Missing
I wanted something deeper and groovier, around 140 BPM, with the swing and timing you hear in micro house. When I listened back, the track still felt flat. It was missing 909 percussion: hi-hats used like shakers, small groove elements moving under everything else.
So I loaded Drumazon 2, a 909 plugin where you can lock the pattern and the sounds separately. I used it as a sound source, resampled it and rebuilt the track from there.
That is the one thing in the title. The rest of the video is everything that happened after.
The Finished Track
Kenkeni is the groove that holds the EP together. You can get the whole EP on Bandcamp or just Kenkeni, and if you want to know where the titles come from, read the Dununba post.
The 909 in the video is D16 Group Drumazon 2 (affiliate link, you pay nothing extra).
